Prompt For Document Properties When Saving (Word 2002)

Each document you create has a set of properties. Filling in the properties when you save a document is useful when it comes time to performing searches. You can later search based on these document properties.

One of the ways that you can remind yourself to fill in the document properties is to have Microsoft Word prompt you to each time you save a new document. The steps below describe how to configure Word to do this.

  1. From the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. Click the Save tab.
  3. Place a check beside the Prompt for document properties option.
  4. Click OK.

Now the document properties will open when you save a file for the first time.
