Lockergnomie Steve Senes is a musician… and he’s recently co-crafted a few tunes that might help you get through the weekend. Moreover, he created his new masterpieces on a Windows machine!
Hi Chris, I’ve deduced, from some of your postings over the past 5 or so years, that you are quite a fan of music, mostly I’ve seen you mention T.M.B.G and others in that vein. I’ve written you many times, and always recieve a prompt response (which makes me wonder if you ever sleep). Anyhow, I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned to you that I am a musician. I play cover songs for a living, mostly disco and (arrggghhh) hip hop. However, as a guitarist, I kinda gravitate towards the heavier side of things (as long as there’s a groove and melody).
Anyhow, I just finished a new demo with Grammy-nominated producer John Custer. This is in NO WAY a solicitation for a plug, seriously. However, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to, at your convenience, take a listen. The pre-production demo’s are available at the band’s website as well as at our myspace page (a necessary evil, albeit a phenomenal promo tool). If the first few songs throw you, move on through the list - the styles of music range from pretty derned heavy to alternative-ish, to techno-ish to jazzy blues. Pretty wide variety of influences (I’m kind of a musical schitzo).
Interesting note - everything you’ll hear was recorded on a Windows PC, home built circa 2001. Old version (v1.0) of Steinberg’s Nuendo software. All guitars and Bass were recorded using a $99 piece of gear from Line 6 called GuitarPort. Drums were done with a 9 year old drum machine, piped in via MIDI to a piece of software called BFD ($300 or so). Vocals - just a standard Shure SM-58 into the PC, no preamp. These recordings attracted the attention of our producer (he called us, not vice versa) and have gained us some industry recognition. Also, just for your information, on these recordings, I played and sang everything. I now have a band to perform the music (although we’re not playing live yet - long story). I will have the new recordings (done with the producer) posted next week but wanted to offer you the chance to check this stuff out before I post the new stuff. I hope you dig it. Peace Chris!
Expand your musical library by a few songs this weekend. You might think you only like certain genres, but there’s always an exception to the rule. A sliding scale, if you will - no pun intended. Listen to the band.
