I’m doing my best to write like Willie on the Simpsons, because today’s Family First site celebrates all that is Scottish dancing!

What, you’ve never heard of Scottish dancing? You would if you were as addicted to New York Times crossword puzzles as I am. The fact is that Scottish dancing enjoys a near-rabid cult following all around the world. And today’s Family First site is called Grand Chain - the Scottish Dance Resource. Here’s its mission:

Grand Chain is a set of resources for Scottish Dancers the world over, based in Edinburgh. If you do some form of Scottish Dance - be it Scottish Country Dance, Ceilidh, Highland, Step, Reeling, or even Scottish Music, I hope you’ll find something useful here.

And if it’s Scottish dancing you’re looking for, you WILL find something useful!

The site is primarily a collection of links to other sites, but they are well-indexed and researched. There is also information here about how to perform various types of dances. For example, if it’s Ceilidh you’re into, learn how to do the Brittania Twostep (a bit different from the Texas version), the Dashing White Sergeant, and of course the Packhouse Rant.
