Add A List Of Words To The Dictionary

Microsoft Word allows you to add words to custom dictionaries. These custom dictionary files are plain text files. One way that you can add words to a custom dictionary is to open Microsoft Word and use the steps outlined in the article called Add Your Own Words To The Dictionary. However, if you have a list of words you want to add, you can do so in a single operation.

First of all, you need open Notepad and type in (or copy and paste from another source) the list of words you want to add to the custom dictionary. From the Edit menu within the file, click Select All. Press Ctrl+C to copy the words.

Next you need to locate the Custom.dic file on your computer. The exact location will vary depending on the version of Windows you are using. Use the Windows Search function to find the file.

Once you locate the file, you will notice that the Custom.dic file is in text file format. Double click the file to open it. Place the cursor at the end of the file and press Ctrl+V to add your list of words. Save and close the Custom.dic file and the words will be added to the custom dictionary.
