The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine
Well, the Internet has been around for a few years now. Specifically, I’m talking about the World Wide Web.
I put my first site online in 1995, and let me tell, you, it was ugly. But most everyone’s sites were back then. Cascading style sheets, browser detection, and javascript were still future developments.
However, it’s fun to go back in time. That’s why today’s Family First site will be a blast for you.
It’s the Wayback Machine at Internet Archive. Type in a URL and you will be able to go back in time and see the site in various past dates. Cool!
For instance, did you ever wonder what Google looked like in its earliest days? Well, you can just step back in time to December 2, 1998, and find out for yourself! Not too surprisingly, the masters of simple design have an initial site that is not a whole lot different from today.
While you’re at it, check out Family First back in 1999! In fact, you can see the very first Family First column from yours truly dated January 11, 1999. Man, I remember those days…
Yahoo! has certainly changed over the years. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one designing ugly back in the early days.
So take a trip back in time with the Wayback Machine. And remember, most of those old Web sites used to come crawling in via a 28,800 modem!
