XP will let you know when your computer starts to run low on disk space. It will prompt you to run the Disk Cleanup Wizard and recommend some files that you can delete to free up space.
You can prevent XP from warning you that the computer is low on disk space by editing the registry.
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Expand the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \Explorer. - Double click the NoLowDiskSpaceChecks value. If the value is not present, you will have to create a new DWORD value.
- Type in a value of 1.
- Close the Registry Editor.

Is there a way to disable the Disk Cleanup for a particular drive? I’ve got an extra hard drive on my system and I keep getting the mesages about that one. Its a drive I only use for backup storage and I’d like to STOP the messages, but just for that drive.
