Technology And Young Children Interest Forum

Technology rocks. I love every miniaturization, every advance, every successful attempt to wring a bit more speed out of a slightly smaller piece of silicon. But I’m in my 40s, and can see the distant light of retirement at the end of the tunnel.
So who will someday take up my technological torch and carry it? The younger generation, that’s who.
Today’s site is entitled Technology and Young Children Interest Forum. The site is presented by NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Its mission statement is brief and to the point: “To lead discussions, share research and information, and demonstrate best practices regarding technology so it can be used to benefit children aged 0-8 years.”
The site is not for kids, though. It contains resources for those who would educate youngsters, and encourage the next generation to pursue technology.
What they have is a tremendous amount of organized links to resources on the web to help in this endeavor. The links are to sites that are aimed to assist parents (example: a Sesame Street Parents article) as well as educators (example: an article on Preparing the Preschool Computer Environment).
There is also a bibliography for parents and educators who want to put the printed word to work.
