Realistic Resolutions

There’s nothing quite like taking a look at your New Year’s resolutions for the year past on December 30th, only to realize that you’ve accomplished absolutely nothing on the list. For instance… did I lose weight, get in better shape, keep track of my blood pressure with that snazzy USB blood pressure monitor, and post a review here on Lockergnome, like I promised one year ago?

Of course not!

Sure, I lost a bunch of weight by the time summer rolled around, but as the days grew short the triple-whammy of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas saw me pack the pounds back on.

The blood pressure monitor? I misplaced the cuff and couldn’t find it for the bulk of the year. I’ll get around to writing that review… one of these days.

On the home front, I’m all for energy independence, but switching the furnace over from oil to natural gas became a moot point after Katrina. Instead, I just knocked the programmable thermostat down another couple of degrees. Thankfully, it’s been a mild winter around these parts.

After finding what I thought was the perfect pan-tilt wireless surveillance camera, I balked at purchasing it when I found out that the software required ActiveX.

It’s time for Plan B: last year’s resolutions are now this year’s resolutions. After all, if we can recycle computers, why can’t we recycle resolutions?

Happy 2006!
