Three D - Make 3D Images!

When I was a kid, I loved looking at 3D images. You know the drill. Pop the 3D glasses out of the magazine, put them over your eyes, look at the pictures, and then fight with your sister about who gets to look at the next one first. Well, now I don’t have to worry about all the fighting because I can make my own 3D images. Now all I need to do is find some old 3D glasses.

Three D is a simple program that allows you to make those 3D images we all used to love many moons ago. Once you get the program up and running, all you need to do is this. Take two photos together 6 cm apart, load them into Three D, and you can create a 3D image that can be viewed with a pair of cyan/red 3D anaglyphic glasses.

Whatever images you pick can be aligned to improve the 3D affect. Three D also lets you prepare photo sets of pairs to process on its own. The end result is a list of 3D images along with their original copies. This allows you to switch between sets to compare and adjust the image alignment without having to reload each pair.

So how much is reliving one aspect of my youth worth? This program is totally free. So find yourself a pair of old 3D glasses, try this program out, and let me know what kinds of 3D images you choose to create.

Hey -

Three D looks like a really cool pgm, but the links are dead! I can’t get to it! Can you help?

Scott

Yeah how do you download it?

Great Post! You can pick up a pair of 3D Glasses for free at Rainbow Symphony. They will send you almost any kind of 3D ( I did not realize there were so many different kinds of glasses for different 3D applications)
