I Will Knot!

I’ve helped a lot of families move their belongings to another location, and without fail, it always seems like some sort of argument arises about how to tie everything down so that it doesn’t shift and cause damage. The person holding the rope usually gets the first crack at trying to tie a strong enough knot in order to keep everything in its place, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, then failure is almost certain, and the family being moved may have the prospect of watching their bedroom set crash onto the unforgiving pavement. For something that seems so simple, it’s amazing how stupid you can look while trying to form a good enough knot. To avoid these public displays of incompetence, just consult I Will Knot! before you begin.

This site a has a modest but appropriate amount of knots that it will teach you to tie. The instructions are broken down into several steps, and they’re accompanied by small video clips that show each step in action. After studying a handful of these examples, you won’t have to look like you’re playing with spaghetti the next time you need to tie a functional knot.
