Today’s site celebrates that most American of traditions: the local rock and roll band.
All over this country, communities have their local musicians grabbing gigs at clubs, fairs, high school dances, etc. The band members have day jobs, because they’re playing for the love of the music, not the money.
This site is that of Mr. Slate, a Chicago-based group specializing in, as they put it, “songs from the late ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and today, including: Led Zeppelin, Gin Blossoms, Joe Walsh, UFO, Stone Temple Pilots, Lenny Kravitz, and Blue Oyster Cult.”
I’ll bet your town has a group doing the same thing.
The site features sound bites of the band, as well as lots of photos. Check out the bios of the members. Hey, these guys are just working stiffs, with wives, kids, and a love for that greatest of genres, rock and roll.

I saw this band on a snowy night in the suburbs of Chicago. I couldn’t believe how good they were! GREAT song mix and they played a few originals that absolutely rock.
They also seem to like each other and it shows on stage.
I will see them again! GREAT BAND!
