I usually don’t monkey around when it comes to my music on my computer. I kind of have my favorite ways of doing things, as I am sure you do, as well. When is it worth giving your media a new manager? When a media manager is as cool as MediaMonkey.
Here’s what the author of the program has to say about it:
An easy-to-use music manager / media jukebox for serious music collectors. It catalogs CDs, OGG, WMA, APE, MPC, and MP3 files, and looks up track data via Freedb and the Web. It includes a tag editor & file renamer to organize your music library, a CD ripper & audio converter to save music, and a playlist editor to create music mixes. Plus, it levels volume, supports Winamp plugins, burns CDs via Nero, and syncs with portable audio devices.

MediaMonkey is one of those tools that does everything but listen to the media for you. The freeware version is packed full of features and plenty of tools to use, so give it a shot. Who knows? If you like it, you might even take a step up to the paid version.

media monkey is in the mid’st of upgrading to media monkey 3.
as of now it is in alpha 4 testing.
media monkey 3 offers tons more. and has new skin feature where you can close the playlists, and leave the player on the screen.
you can send it to the tray, you can send it to the task bar either vitrical or hortizontal.
which means there are 4 viewable players. one main player, one floating player, two microplayers.
with all this skinning features it has and has them being added to.
we are wanting more skilled skinners to come make some skins for media monkey 3.
there is going to be a wiki page for media monkey its being worked on now. there are already lessons on skinning and tips on things as well as the known skins listed and lessons on scripting for media monkey.
check the beta test room in the forum for the wiki thread.
there is also the need for new plugins wrote for media monkey so we need a good plugin creator.
could also use some good audio visuals if anyone can make plugins for them in the same style of the geiss and milkdrop plugins.
just remember media monkey 3 is still in alpha testing as of this date may 22, 2007, when it starts beta testing nobody knows right now?
also media monkey 2.5.5 998 does not or is not made to work with vista. some people are using 2.5.5 998 on vista but i don’t know how they got it to work.?
media monkey 3 is being made to work with vista, so you vista users we could use some testers to help make it a good program on vista. but only do it if you know about and or have done alpha testing before.
come on and download the program and join the forum and start testing media monkey 3 if you want. the forum is very much in heavy use. its not lacking for posts in other words. but it’s mostly a laidback style of forum, also more tech’s in there would be a huge help.
