About That Xbox 360…

In response to My Microsoft Xbox 360 Review, Gnomie K. Michael Kilpatrick writes:

Hey Chris,

I have enjoyed reading your articles on the Xbox 360, as I have enjoyed all of your articles on a daily basis since around 1998. I just wish you would address the grievous error that Microsoft has performed by not allowing 99% of the population access to this new system! I don’t know what the situation was by you on the west coast, but here in Philadelphia, people waited 14 -20 hours in order to have a chance at 10-14 Xboxes at each store.

I think that either this type of deliberate marketing hype or horrible distribution problem is something that Microsoft should be criticized for instead of praising them. On top of the distribution problems, I have read MANY newsgroups that this first generation has multitudes of mechanical issues. It seems that the only individuals that are really enjoying the Xbox 360 are the ones selling them on eBay for 1,000 -10,000 dollars.

Funny thing is, when Microsoft was contacted as to when more were to be available or why there was such a shortage, it didn’t have a response.

I am not saying that I will not purchase a box when they become available, but it really irritates me that I have a copy of Call to Duty 2 on my counter at home and NO Xbox 360 upon which to play that game and NO date to know when one might be available.
