Searching the Web with gada.be
As you likely already caught with the announcement earlier this evening, we officially unveiled our Web search service today. For several weeks now, you’ve undoubtedly witnessed links from the site gada.be – these placements within Lockergnome’s universe were quite intentional. Normally, if I were to pick out keywords for a particular article, you’d have them for future reference – but might not know what else in the world was listing the same keywords. This is merely one use of gada.be, as tonight’s announcement revealed.
This is a metasearch service with a few unique features, no matter where or how you view it. gada.be is for anybody with access to the Web and in need of immediate, impartial results. You’re going to save time and bandwidth immediately; imagine how long it would take to traverse all those sites just to find the one thing you were looking for!? If you tend to view only the top results for a cursory search, why not just feed you the top results in one easy spot (where you can subsequently subscribe to them)?
So, it’s a metasearch service that’s easy to use, easy to remember, easy to link, easy to access, easy to view, easy to load, and generally easy all the way around.
- Save time, page loads, and keystrokes
- Get vendor-neutral results from fantastic resources
- Output OPML for easy importing into news aggregators
- Link your tags to gada.be for more comprehensive results
- Load with slow connections, Treos, PSP, dial-up, cell phones
- Search through an ever-expanding set of results
- Navigate a simple subdirectory structure, quick to key-in
- Run it on either desktop-based or mobile devices
- View or subscribe to results in RSS
- Get full access without needing to register
It’s been quite fun to put together for you, so I hope you’re able to enjoy it in every way possible. Of course, it’s supremely easy to pass a gada.be link along to anybody through email, as you can imagine. Instead of going to a single search engine and copying that URL for them to see, you could simply use a single gada.be URL and direct ‘em off to several search engines all at once. All you need to know is the keyword(s) that you wish to search for! The kicker is: you can use your keyword as the subdomain or subdirectory. For example: keyword.gada.be is the same as gada.be/keyword in your Web browser. Nifty, eh? Just check out the photos page – by far, my favorite type of page to load in gada.be. The Amazon pages aren’t too shabby, either. If you want an in-depth explanation, just check out the About Us and Updates pages. Use it in good health, and please send feedback when you can.
