Turn On The ClearType Option In XP

If you spend countless hours staring at a monitor, one of the first things you should do when configuring a computer, is turn on ClearType. This feature can be activated through the Display Properties window.

Open the Control Panel and double click the Display utility. Select the Appearance tab and then click the Effects button. Click the drop down arrow under the Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts option and click ClearType. Click OK to close the Effects window. Click OK to close the Display Properties window. You should notice that the fonts on the screen are now displayed much more crisply.
