Clear Tweak can improve the way your fonts look
ClearTweak allows you to change the contrast setting of the ClearType setting for Windows XP. If you’ve never messed with Clear Type, which is off by default in XP, you probably aren’t getting the best possible resolution of your onscreen fonts. Not to worry, though. Rather than fooling around with Microsoft’s interface, Clear Tweak takes care of the issue, and does it better.
ClearType is designed to enhance LCD displays. It may appear slightly blurry on standard desktop monitors. It does not hurt to try ClearTweak on a CRT monitor. Even though ClearType is designed for LCDs, some people see an improvement on CRTs. I’ve used Clear Type on several different CRTs and it has never failed to make a difference. With Clear Tweak’s ability to adjust contrast and so forth, it’s worth a try on yours. If you have a LCD, it will definitely make a difference.
ClearTweak requires Windows XP or later versions of Windows that support the Microsoft ClearType Technology. I know ME did/does. Not sure about 98. You must have a video adapter and monitor that support a color setting of at least 256 colors. Best results are achieved with High color (24-bit) or Highest color (32-bit) support. It’s a 1.1 MB download, and well worth the bother.
