Implement Logon Scripts In XP

You can configure logon scripts to run on a local computer that is not a member of a domain. By doing so, the script that you specify will run when a user logs on to the local computer. You can enable logon scripts using the group policy editor.

You can follow the steps to assign user logon scripts.

  1. Click Start and click Run.

  2. Type gpedit.msc and Click OK.
  3. Expand the following: User Configuration\Windows Settings\Scripts (Logon/Logoff).
  4. In the details pane, double click Logon.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Browse to locate the script you want to use and click Open.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Type in any script parameters you want to use and Click OK.
  9. Click OK.

Now when a user logs onto the local computer, the logon script will automatically run.
