Another Way To Remove Formatting Of Copied Text

  • No Related Post

When text is copied from one Word document to another or from a Web page into a Word document, the original formatting of the copied text may not be removed. In some cases, you may not want to keep the original formatting.

There are a few methods you can use to get rid of the formatting. One way is to use the CTRL + Spacebar keys to change it to plain text. Copy the desired text into your Word document. Highlight the new text and press CTRL + Spacebar. This will automatically convert it to plain text formatting.

You can also apply this method to an entire document to clear all formatting. Use the CTRL + A keys to select all the text and once again use CTRL + Spacebar to clear all the current formatting.

The best way to remove Word formatting is to use WordPerfect instead. Failing that, several people offer fixes for Word which emulate WordPerfect’s ability to display commands and selectively change or keep them. I find the safest way to get rid of unwanted stuff in Word is the save the file as TXT and then re-open it. That has the benefit of preserving the original while fixing the problems.
