Create A Custom Disk Quota In Windows XP

  • No Related Post

Disk quotas are enabled to limit how much disk space users can use on an NTFS volume. When you first enable disk quotas and configure the disk space limit, this limit is applied to all users. However, you may have a user that requires more disk space than other users. In such cases, you can create a custom quota entry.

Open the properties dialog box for the volume that has disk quotas enabled. From the Quota tab, click the Quota Entries button. From the Quota menu, click New Quota Entry. Type in the name of the user, click Check names, and click OK. The Add New Quota Entry dialog box will appear. Select the Limit disk space to option and configure the specific disk limit you want applied to the user account. Click OK.

The user account you select will now have a disk quota limit that is unique from the rest of the user accounts.
