Halloween, Trick or Treat?

Ain’t nothing more spooky than a holiday dead-icated to ghouls, ghosts, goblins, witches, vampires, werewolves, and Abe Vigoda. Okay, so that last one is a bit of a stretch. I’ve been dreaming of a grey Halloween, actually. And that’s exactly what happens every night when Ponzi decides to leave the TV on some random channel that’s documenting real-life ghost stories. It wouldn’t bother me if the volume was set to “5″ or less, but that’s not always the case. I’d throw the sheets over my head when it happens, but then I’d look like a ghost - and that’s just not comforter. Er, comforting. While I enjoy Halloween and all the fun it brings, I’ve never really liked “horror” or gore (guts, not the guy). I’m not haunted by any demons, to my knowledge - maybe an errant daemon now and then, but nothing terrible. I’ll just have to put on my lumberjack costume and scare ‘em off. I dress that way often, actually… what, with flannel being my modus operandress. What could I be this Halloween?
At the end of the day, I’ll probably end up being myself. That’s a pretty frightening thought - instead of frighteningly pretty (much like Ponzi). She loves the candy part of Halloween… but it usually sits around ’til the next Halloween comes. That’s not a trick or a treat, in my opinion. A real treat would be something geeky cool. A real trick would be something that appears to be geeky cool, but is actually a cheap knock-off. Why couldn’t they hand out CDs and other assorted digital goodies on Beggar’s Night? All Hallows Eve, as some would call it. We haven’t even carved a pumpkin yet this year! Ponz picked up one of those baby pumpkins and put it on the table, but it’s a far cry from a classic Jack-o-Lantern. All I need is a little dreary weather to put me in the mood. Not sure if it’s Halloween I enjoy so much as it is the season it resides within. Boo!
