Prevent Remote Computer Sounds (XP)

When you establish a remote desktop connection, sounds will be played on the remote computer and your local computer as you perform various administrative tasks. If you do not want sounds played on the remote computer when you execute a remote desktop connection, all you have to do is edit the settings within the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box.

Begin by opening the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box. Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Communications and select Remote Desktop Connection. Click the Options button and then click the Local Resources tab. Under Remote computer sound, click the drop down arrow and click Do not Play. Click OK. This will prevent sounds on the remote computer (and the local computer) from playing during a Remote Desktop Connection session.
