Secure Your Compressed Folders (ME/XP/2003)

For those of you who are concerned about security and do not want opening files in a compressed folder, there is a way that you can secure them. You can password protect the compressed folder so the files are inaccessible to anyone who does not know the correct password. You can easily password protect a compressed folder using the steps listed below.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and My Computer.

  2. Locate the compressed folder you want to password protect.
  3. Double click the compressed folder to open it.
  4. From the File menu, click Add a password or Encrypt in Windows ME.
  5. Type in the password twice and click OK.
