Alter Margin Settings To Bind Documents

If you plan to bind documents, you may find after doing so that some of the text is not visible because it is hidden by the bindings. This is because there is not enough white space either on the side or top of the document.

Microsoft Word recognizes that you may want to bind printed documents and allows you to configure the margins so all text is visible afterwards. If you plan to bind a document, click the Page Setup option from the File menu. From the Margins tab, make sure Normal is selected beside the Multiple pages.

To add some extra space to the top or left side of the document, you can configure the Gutter settings. In the Gutter box under the Margins section, type in a value. In the Gutter position box, click Left or Top.
