All my nagging about eating healthy began to pay off two years ago when my son started lecturing me on my eating habits. With my daughter, however, we don’t sit down to eat, we sit down to negotiate. “I’ll trade you one cookie for two green beans.” If you are still nagging and negotiating, here are some Web sites to help your cause.
Dole Five A Day
“5 A Day is the magic rule - more is OK, less is uncool!” This site is a celebration of the important health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. The graphics are so bright and compelling, it’s impossible not to begin craving a fruit or veggie snack. For kid’s activities, go to “Fun Stuff”. The clickable Fruit and Vegetable characters are clearly for the younger set, but I still learned some new things. Did you know that kiwi is not a tropical fruit and its skin is edible? I enjoyed the guide to apple varieties “All About Apples”. You’ll find its link on the Anthony Apple page. For young chefs, I recommend the “Kid’s Cookbook”. Nitty gritty nutritional details for older kids (and parents) can be found in the “Nutritional Center.”
