I’ve been working for myself (at home) for as long as I can remember. Having a home office is cool, but it’s not without its fair share of home office headaches. I didn’t really think about it too much until I got a note from Lockergnomie Dan Potts this afternoon. Don’s thinking about working at home, or so it seems. Do I recommend working at home? Yes, with a caveat:
I have been reading and enjoying your news letters for some time now and was wondering if you have ever researched any of work at home web sites. Being a retired policeman I am naturally cautious about such things. I have tried to look into it myself, but when doing any kind of a search I just find hundreds of links all promising riches beyond imagination. I would like to think a few of these would be the real thing, but honesty seems to be in short supply. If you can provide me with some information I would be greatful. Keep up the good work.
I haven’t looked at one of those “work at home” sites since… never. The programs sure look great, but you have to understand that many of them are only good for the people at the very top. They’re not pyramid schemes, per se - many of those opportunities are legit. However, they pray on your hopes and dreams of a better life. You buy into the idea at a high dollar amount, work for a couple of weeks, then lose interest when you’re getting no results. You find people who (a) aren’t interested, (b) are already a part of the “work at home” program you are, or (c) happen to be without disposable income. If it sounds too good to be true, too easy to do, then don’t drop a dime until you’ve asked a few other folks about it. A good starting place for you to find out might be our forums. If you really want to work at home, it might be best to take matters into your own hands and become your own boss. I’ve heard there are plenty of revenue-generating opportunties in buying and selling merchandise online (through auction resources). Hardest part is just starting, Don.
