It’s been forever and a day since I had a summer vacation. My parents are visiting this week, largely for the SeaFair experience that’s happening overhead for the next couple of days: the Blue Angels be dancin’ in the skies!

As a family of five, we used to drive all over this country for our family vacations. We vacationed in the south, vacationed to the north, vacationed out east, vacationed out west - all in the family car. Dad always enjoyed driving, plus it was always turned out to be the most cost effective way to travel. Got a lot of sightseeing done in my youth, so I’m not so hot to do it so much now (which is a mixed blessing, I believe). Ponzi and I had never walked Pike Place Market together until today… and we all rode a Dinner Train tonight for the first time. It’s kinda like a mini-vacation of sorts.

I can take “relaxing” in short bursts. Dad’s camped out in front of the HDTV… watching TCM! Well, it’s his vacation, I guess. Mom’s been reading on the chaise in our stairwell picture window (but she does that even when she’s NOT on vacation). Summer is starting to wind down, but my mini-vacations are just starting to warm up. What was your favorite summer / family vacation?
