UI Hall Of Shame

Having reviewed (and created) a fair amount of software in my time, I’ve definitely seen examples of great UI (user interface) design, but for each great design that I’ve enjoyed, there are seventy dismal ones that go against it. What’s a poor boy to do? Complain. If we don’t make a fuss about the design travesties that are being committed against the unsuspecting public each and every day, then who will? The people responsible for interface design need to hear what we have to say. One individual (who just so happens to be involved in development) has started a site called UI Hall of Shame.
This regularly updated Web site is a perfect venue for the creator to spout off on examples of interface design that just squeeze the life out of him. Screenshots accompany the rants, so you can actually see what he’s talking about. Many of the points made are extremely valid, and if you’re in the business of interface design, you just might learn a thing or two here. If only the creator of the site would apply some of the advice he is giving to the Web site for his software company…
