First Lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (the greatly admired widow of President John F. Kennedy) was born at Southhampton, NY. She was educated at private schools, studied ballet, and learned to ride a horse almost as soon as she could walk. After college
at Vassar, she took a journalism job at a local newspaper in Washington DC. It was there that she met Senator Kennedy, who had a reputation as the most eligible bachelor on the hill. They were married in 1953.
