Customize Icons For Your Internet Explorer Favorites

One of the toolbars included in Internet Explorer is called Links. When this toolbar is visible, you can quickly access various web pages. You can click the Links button and it lists all the links to your favorite web sites. However, you will probably also notice that each link has an icon beside and most of the icons are the same. So you can customize the icons if you want. For example, you may want to have an icon resembling mail beside a link to your e-mail Web page.

To customize an icon, select the Links button within Internet Explorer, right click one of the available links listed and click Properties. From the Web document tab, click the Change Icon button. Select the icon you want to use to represent the link and click Ok. The new icon will now appear beside the URL when you click the Links button or when you click Favorites.
