Speed Up IE

Last week I wrote about a hack to increase loading speed in Firefox. Chris (not the Pirillo one) wrote:
“Is there a similar hack for IE? The Firefox one works great.”
I replied:
You can find instructions here. It involves editing the registry, which needs to be done with great care. I haven’t tried it, as I never use IE except to access Windows Update and - very rarely - to view a page that won’t display properly in Fx. I know folks who have, though, and they say it makes a difference with broadband.
It’s essentially the same hack, increasing the number of simultaneous connections and jazzing up prefetching. It’s just trickier because IE is an integral part of Windows, where Fx is a stand-alone application.
Be careful.
