If you typically create numerous documents in Word, there may be several that you save and close knowing that you will probably need access to them again in a few hours. However, by that time, they may no longer appear on your list of recent documents. This is where the Work menu can come in rather handy.
To add the Work menu to your toolbar:
- From the Tools menu, click Customize.
- Click the Commands tab.
- Under the list of Categories, click Built-in menus.
- Under the list of Commands, locate and drag the Work menu to your toolbar.
- Click Close
Now you can add a file you are working on to the Work menu for quick access later on. Just click the Work menu and click Add to Work Menu. You can open a file that has been added by clicking the file name from the Work menu. Finally, you can remove a file from the menu by pressing the Ctrl+Alt+- keystrokes. When the cursors changes to a minus sign click the file to delete on the Work menu.
