Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer v2.0

I’d like to add that, if you’re one of the curmudgeons still running Office 2000 (like me), MBSA 2.0 does not support it when scanning for security updates. You will have to continue using or obtain Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 1.2.1 before Microsoft drops support of v1.2.1.

The statements I’ve read on the Microsoft Web site are not clear - but it appears that support for MBSA 1.2.1 will be discontinued in the first quarter of 2006.

MBSA 1.2.1 is the previous version of MBSA and is provided to allow customers time to migrate to the latest version of MBSA. MBSA 1.2.1 is expected to be discontinued in the first quarter of 2006.

Users who have:

• Office 2000

• Exchange 5.0 and 5.5
• Other products supported by MBSA 1.2.1 but not Microsoft Update

in their environment may need to continue to use MBSA 1.2.1 to achieve full update detection.

MBSA 1.2.1 is only compatible with Software Update Services (SUS)
