Image Renaming

Need to do some renaming of some photos you just took, but you don’t want to go through all the trouble of doing them all one by one? I don’t blame you because there are more fun ways to spend your valuable time. Personally, I’d rather be watching paint dry than having to rename a whole file folder full of summer vacation photos. So what is a geek to do?

If you’re stuck in this situation yourself, then pick up Image Renaming. This program is small and gets right to the point. I think that is why I like it so much. It doesn’t play around with hundreds of features you will probably never use. It does one job and does it well.

Listen to what the author of the program has to say about why you might need to use his program:

If you are having one of those two problems:

  1. All of your files are named img1.jpg, img2.jpg… and every time you copy those files to your computer, the index starts again with img1.jpg, img2.jpg. As a result, you can’t copy all your pictures into the same folder.

  2. Every time you try to do a video CD with your pictures, all the files are sorted in alphabetical order. In that case, img10.jpg would come before img2.jpg and that’s unacceptable.

I created a program that would rename my pictures based on the date and time of the picture taken or created. And then the date and time should be in the format of YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS, so when the sorting is done in alphabetical order, correct sorting is preserved.

Does that sound like a situation that you have found yourself in? Then try it out! You will need the Microsoft .NET framework to get the program up and running. After that, though, you should be knee deep in image renaming fun!
