Amelia Mary Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, was born July 24, 1897 at her grandparents’ home in Atchison, Kansas. Like many today, Earhart believed that technology would open new worlds for women.

Railey asked, ‘How would you like to be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic?’” This detailed biography, neatly organized into Early Years, Celebrity and Last Flight, is a terrific resource for school reports.
