Prevent Users From Changing Privacy Settings In IE

Once you have configured your privacy settings in IE, you may decide you want to disable access to those settings so no one else can change what you’ve done. The following steps will help you do just that:

  1. Open the Start menu and click Run.

  2. Type gpedit.msc in the Open field and click OK.
  3. Navigate to the following location within the Group Policy Tree: USER CONFIGURATION\ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES\WINDOWS COMPONENTS\INTERNET EXPLORER\INTERNET CONTROL PANEL
  4. Double-click the Disable The Privacy Page policy and select the Enabled radio button.
  5. Click OK.

In trying to prevent the spyware or adware that has attached itself to IE 6, I found your page to “enable THE PRIVACY PAGE. After following your instructions to the letter, I find that in this panel the PRIVACY PAGE policy is the only one not list. I enabled all the others hoping it would help this FOULWARE crap that is preventing me from using IE at all, and nearly corrupted my entire computer, but it did not help. Had the Privacy Page line been there, I can see that this was the perfect fix to my problem. I cannot keep the privacy setting at block all cookies or even advanced settings. Something is causing the privacy settings to go back to ACCEPT ALL COOKIES every few minutes. My only way to avoid pure havoc is the keep my temp internet files folder open at all times and delete cookies that appear dozens of times per day. VERY ANNOYING! So, I wondered if you had any suggestions.

My sincere thanks,
Henry
