In the yearly madness known as Spring Cleaning, I nearly missed this item. That would have been a shame, since it deserves all the press it can get. Last Thursday Microsoft released WPA2 for download. This Wi-Fi security package has been updated to reflect the changing face of wireless threats and it covers the future of Wi-fi as well: it supports 802.11i.

This update to Windows XP provides support for Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), which is the latest standards-based wireless security solution derived from the IEEE 802.11i standard.

This update to Windows XP provides support for Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), which is the latest standards-based wireless security solution derived from the IEEE 802.11i standard. It also contains Wireless Provisioning Services (WPS) Information Element support, which enables improvements in wireless network discoverability.
