Learning an instrument can seem to be an impossible feat. While the first few weeks and months will be very difficult, a little perseverance will get you through the rough times, and your relentless practice will begin to audibly pay off. A consistent number of people seem to go with learning the piano first, and this basic musical understanding can lead to taking up other instruments. It’s always nice to have a bunch of chords in your personal arsenal, but learning and remembering them can be overwhelming. Look to the free software program called All That Chords! for some help.
This program features a database that contains a ridiculous amount of chords. Trust me, you’ll be learning for a long time. Pick the chord that you want to learn, and the program will then highlight the proper notes on a visual keyboard and in musical notation. You can even hear what sound the chord makes through your speakers, but that’s not all. Play the notes in the chord ascending or descending to hear the distinct sound that each key makes, and then jump into the Chord Analysis tool to hear what user defined key combinations sound like. You’ll also find out if what you created is an actual chord in the database. Plug your MIDI keyboard in for an even more interactive experience. Excuse the crummy Web site, and go straight to the file download.
