Windows XP Name Change

  • No Related Post

Q: I purchased this Windows XP computer from a friend, and every time that I boot the computer up, the welcome screen shows his name on the administrator account and the start menu. Since he no longer owns this computer, how can I change the account name to mine?

A: This is simple enough to do. Go to your start menu and open up the Control Panel. Select User Accounts and then click on the account that you wish to modify (the Administrator in this case). You’ll then see the “Change my name” option, and by clicking this, you can change the name associated with the account to anything that you’d like; Willy Wonka, Bill Gates - the choice is yours. Don’t let your computer insult you anymore by calling you the wrong name.

That’s Mr. Wonka to you, computer.
