Once you have the Fax service installed and configured, you can begin sending and receiving faxes from your XP computer. You can send a fax directly from a Windows-based program such as Microsoft Word 2002. The process is a relatively simple process as outlined below.

The following steps demonstrate how you can send a fax in XP through Microsoft Word 2002.

  1. Open Microsoft Word 2002.

  2. Create or open the document that you want to fax.
  3. From the File menu, click Print. The Print dialog box will appear.
  4. Use the drop down arrow beside the name box and select Fax.
  5. Click OK. The Send Fax Wizard launches. Click Next.
  6. Type in the recipient information such as the name and fax number. Click Next.
  7. Select the cover page template that you want to use. Click Next.
  8. Type in a subject line and note for the fax cover page. Click Next.
  9. In the Schedule dialog box, select when you want to send the fax. Choose the fax priority. Click Next.
  10. Review the fax summary and click Finish.

I have a query! If I want to be able to receive faxes but do not have a set phone number, can I still do it? I know that sounds a bit of a daft question, but if I am living with someone else and connected to their phone line and using their broadband.I do not want my fax service to pick up incoming calls to their phone line so was hoping that I can create a fax number to provide to customers which if they ring would go straight to my email inbox… Does that make sense? Is it possible?
