The default location for a local logon script is %systemroot%\System32\Repl\Imports\Scripts. If you want to store logon scripts in this directory, it must be shared and the share name must be Netlogon. However, you can store logon scripts in a different directory. Keep in mind though that the user must have access to the folder during the logon process.
To assign a logon script to a user account, complete the steps outlined below.
- Click Start and click Control Panel.
- Double click the Administrative Tools applet.
- Double click the Computer Management applet.
- Expand Local Users and Groups.
- Click the Users container.
- Right click the appropriate user account and click Properties.
- Select the Profile tab.
- Under Logon Script, type in the path and the file name of the logon script.
- Click OK.
Now when the user logs onto the local computer, the logon script will automatically run.
