Change Your Windows XP Registration Information (XP Pro/Home)

When you install Windows XP, you are required to provide registration information including your name and organization. This information is then visible on the General tab from the System Properties dialog box (right click My Computer and click Properties).

You can change the registration information after you install Windows XP by editing the registry.

  • Click Start and click Run.
  • Type regedit and click OK.
  • Expand the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  • In the right pane, double click RegisteredOrganization.
  • Type in the new organization name and click OK.
  • Double click RegisteredOwner.
  • Type in the new name of the registered owner and click OK.
  • Close the Registry Editor.
