I frequently hear from Lockergnome readers who would like to have quicker access to the shutdown and restart functions on their computers. There are ways to do this manually, but I recently discovered a software program called ShutDown that makes the process much easier and gives you more options than the ones listed above.

This dinky program sits in your system tray and awaits your orders. Just right-click on the icon and select the action that you want it to take, and your wish is its command. No muss, no fuss. You can even set it to take one specific action as soon as you click on the program icon. Shutdown and restart functions are obviously a part of the program, but other functions like hibernate, log off, and screensaver are also present. ShutDown even goes the extra mile by allowing you to customize its interface.
