Memory Not All It Could Be
I guess I have to retract part of my post from yesterday. Crucial doesn’t sell RDRAM. For those who may have been living in a deep cave, without Internet access, for some time, Intel and the RDRAM hardware have parted ways. Permanently. Once Intel found that it was losing business because of the cost of RDRAM, it was just a matter of time. The part I have to retract is the part about Crucial selling RAM “in all forms.” I think they have everything else covered, though.
In any case, I advised the sharp reader, Paul, that he shouldn’t rest on his Sharp-Eyed Reader Award. No-one currently using RDRAM should. If you EVER intend to upgrade the RDRAM in one of your systems, best do it soon. As the reliance on RDRAM keeps dropping, the prices will keep going up and the availablility going down. I don’t know how many manufacturers still make equipment relying on RDRAM, but I know for a fact that there’s no way I would ever buy a motherboard that takes RDRAM any more than I would one with ISA slots on it.
