News From the Front Lines

Some of you may have been wondering what happened to me. I’m sure there was a certain amount of speculation along the lines of “I wonder which company took him out?” Unfortunately for them, I’m right here in the Wilds of Deepest Ohio.

What has kept me pretty busy is something that a lot of us would rather have just go away: real life. Between a seven month struggle to get a house sold and the need to keep our heads above water until that happened, I’ve been busy enough to wish I was twins (wouldn’t THAT scare some people out there?). So, the worst of it is nearly over and I’m back from the trenches to report.

This first report concerns something that all true geeks LOVE to do. I’ve been building one computer and overhauling two others, while swapping hardware night and day. It’s still not over, which is why I won’t load this first report with deep details. Suffice to say that it’s made me happier than I thought it would. The state of today’s hardware is better than I had hoped for, even on parts of the ladder short of the top rung. Quality appears to be up and the ‘ease of use’ factor on much of it is definitely headed in the right direction.

Keep an eye out tomorrow and I’ll lay out just what I’m up to.
