Managing E-mail Attachments

Q: I occasionally receive e-mail messages that contain large attachments. Instead of taking the time to download these messages in my e-mail client while I’m away from home and on a slower connection, I’d much rather specify which ones I want to download and block/erase the others before downloading. What’s one way to do this?
A: Most e-mail providers these days offer Web based access to your account so you can take care of all your e-mail needs within your very own browser. Assuming you have this type of access to your account, I’d just login to my Inbox over the Web before I downloaded anything to my e-mail client. By doing this, you’ll see what messages are present, and you’ll instantly notice which ones have attachments. If you notice anything that is completely unwanted, just delete it from the server. For messages with attachments that you’d like to download when you get back home, just transfer them to another folder in your account for the time being, and move them back to your Inbox when you’re ready for them.
Once you’ve managed everything in this way, you’ll be ready to download the mail to your client with the satisfaction of knowing about what’s coming down the pipeline.
