How often do you use a search engine? I don’t know about you, but I basically live on Google. After all, how are you going to go somewhere if you don’t know where to find it? If you’ve never really learned how to properly utilize a search engine, you really are missing out. Most of us tend to load up Google whenever we need to do some detective work, but even though it does deliver some of the best results, it’s important to realize that it’s not the only thing out there. For a while, it seemed like anyone who had a computer created his or her own search engine. Most of them were about as useful as a bullet in the spleen, but some ended up being pretty helpful. This page from 7in1 Web lists a bunch of search engines that you may have never even heard of.
Why would you need to know about more search engines? Why not? Each resource will probably end up giving you different results, and you may find some hidden treasure that you weren’t able to find with some of the bigger name engines. I appreciated the short engine descriptions that will help you to know what the site has to offer before you visit it. One of the really nice things about this list is that it documents many of the specialized search engines that are out there, as well. Not all of these links are valid anymore, but you’ll most likely still find something that will end up feeding your search addiction.
