Buying a BMW

Yes, a BMW. I’m at the BMW dealer right now (on one of their public machines). In another hour, I’ll be driving an (almost) brand new BMW automobile off the lot. We’re eliminating one car from our two-car garage and getting one better. And folks, you can’t get much better than BMW. We’re buying it instead of opting for a lease, only because car leases seem to be… silly? The price seemed good (for a slightly used BMW) and the financing seemed decent. I’m leasing my own car, but the BMW will be ours in another 60 months. If Ponzi thinks she wants a sporty car, I can’t argue.
The BMW Z4 effortlessly bridges two worlds. It is a classic roadster. And it is a charismatic vision of the future. The sweeping curve of the bonnet, the long wheelbase and low-set seats identify the Z4 as a pure-bred sports car. But more than this: the Z4 is an experience that delights the senses. Convex and concave surfaces play with light. Strong lines interact with soft curves. Smooth steel and fine leather bring a tactile richness to every detail. The closer you come to the Z4, the more it touches you.
I never really looked at BMWs before, but apparently they retain a good portion of their value (as opposed to the Ford thing we’re going to be getting rid of today). We’ll be driving to Seattle in style! Each of us will be in a different car, however. Any other happy BMW owners out there? Do you have a lease? Did you get a good price?
