Q: I just purchased a scanner, and I’m going to try to scan in a bunch of my family photographs. I don’t know anything about scanning, but I really want to make sure that my picture scans come out as good as they possibly can. Where can I go to receive some basic scanning education?
A: Basic scanning [on a flatbed scanner or sheet-fed scanner] is very simple these days, but if you really want to achieve the best results, you should learn more about the specifics of the scanning process. There are definitely a bunch of terms that will confuse the beginner, and in order to remedy this situation, you’ll need to start from the beginning with Scanning Basics 101.
