A Few Record Labels Are Backing File-sharing

No, they don’t want you to get their music for free. But at least they are finally joining the rest of us in the twenty-first century.
Warner Music, Universal Music, and Sony Music are among those companies agreeing to use a file-sharing system called “Peer Impact” starting sometime in mid-2005 for distributing music. According to the agreement, their entire musical catalogues will be available but no pricing or licensing details have been released to possible customers just yet.
