They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that’s true, then the Recording Industry Association of America should be very flattered, as the Motion Picture Assocation is following suit (pun intended).
And certainly this will make a criminal lawyer or two happy.
Undaunted by a recent Federal appeals court ruling saying that peer-to-peer networks, such as Grokster and Napster, could not be held responsible for the misdeeds of their users, the Motion Picture Assocation this week announced that it would be filing an unspecified, but presumably large, number of lawsuits at both those who make pirated movies available for downolad, and those who download them.
